Training “Highly Qualified Personnel”:
MIDAS is training locals to work in-demand expertise areas, providing makers, companies, entrepreneurs and employees with advanced skills to turn business dreams to reality; and defining our region as experts in advanced materials/metals and digital fabrication. This builds on our region’s current asset of metals, manufacturing and engineering expertise.
Current training opportunities include public equipment training and ad hoc corporate training upon request. A formal Digital Fabrication curriculum is in the design phase at Selkirk College.
In late 2016, 40 local companies operating in the local advanced manufacturing and fabrication, construction & industrial technical services, environmental and metallurgy sectors were contacted to assess specific in-demand training opportunities to be made available via MIDAS. Read the full report HERE. Future company training needs were identified in the areas of business planning, job-specific technical training, and organisational health and safety. A two year corporate training plan for employers, employees and entrepreneurs has been created and with successful partnerships and fundraising, will be implemented in late 2017.
